The President of the Republic, His Excellency Mr. Ghazali Othmani, received the Chinese Ambassador, His Excellency Mr. Guo Jun. This meeting held particular significance as the ambassador delivered a message of thanks from Chinese President, His Excellency Mr. Xi Jinping, in response to the congratulations extended on the occasion of the Chinese holiday.
President Ghazali expressed his deep pride in welcoming the ambassador, highlighting the friendly ties between the two countries. He confirmed that these relations are not only diplomatic but also personal, describing President Xi Jinping as a friend and brother. He also thanked the Chinese president for his continued support, especially after the recent assault he faced, noting that his health had improved, and he had returned to his duties as usual.
The discussions covered key projects, such as the construction of a multi-purpose stadium and an Olympic swimming pool, both of which will be built in preparation for hosting the Island Games in 2027.
The 50th anniversary of Comoros’ independence was also discussed, which will coincide with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Comoros and China. This event offers a unique opportunity to celebrate not only the country’s independence but also the enduring friendship between the two nations.
