On October 26, 2024, President Ghazali Othmani visited Fomboni High School, where he was warmly welcomed by the school’s principal, other officials, and a crowd of students. This marks the first time a head of state has visited the school since its inauguration by President Saïd Mohamed Joher, symbolizing the beginning of a new chapter for this educational institution.
The visit coincides with the upcoming renovation and expansion of the high school, set to begin in December, aimed at providing a high-quality learning environment. During the visit, student Nardati emphasized the need for increased support to ensure the quality of education and improve the working conditions of teachers.
The principal expressed deep gratitude to the president for his continued commitment and support, noting the significant progress made by the school, with the success rate rising from 24% to 44%. However, the principal also pointed out ongoing challenges, such as a lack of medical services and the absence of a sports hall. The president promised to fulfill these commitments, reminding everyone of the shared responsibility between parents, teachers, and the government in ensuring a bright educational future. He also emphasized the high value the Comorian people place on education, as demonstrated by their significant contributions to the establishment of the University of Comoros.
